Summer Tram
The heat has melted down the tar,
June didn’t take too long to start.
My city on the seven winds
Was bathing in the big rivers’ bliss.
Both hands of clock fell straight to six,
The day rolled gently toward the dusk.
The morning cool, that little tease,
Remained just in my memories.
The sun was burning like napalm,
Creating fairy-tale-like shades,
An old tram slowly rolled along —
The realest thing the world has made.
And to the clatter of its wheels,
Like an old coachman with his cart,
I carried home my melodies
And endless thoughts inside my heart.
Chorus:
Come on, old tram, just take me home
Along the staircase spread across the land,
Rock me, oh rock me to that steady clack
And maybe half-asleep I’ll reach my childhood again.
Take me back where friends are in the yard,
Where every tree still seems so tall and grand.
Come on, old tram, just take me there,
Where we as kids knew friendship was all we had.
The tram was winding through the yards,
Brushing the leaves at every turn,
The silent electric heart
Was calmly doing all its work.
The summer rolled along the rails,
The sun was slowly changing course,
And toward the rain my mood set sail
Without the slightest use of force.
The heat has melted down the tar,
June didn’t take too long to start.
My city on the seven winds
Was bathing in the big rivers’ bliss.
Both hands of clock fell straight to six,
The day rolled gently toward the dusk.
The morning cool, that little tease,
Remained just in my memories.
Chorus (repeat):
Come on, old tram, just take me home
Along the staircase spread across the land,
Rock me, oh rock me to that steady clack
And maybe half-asleep I’ll reach my childhood again.
Take me back where friends are in the yard,
Where every tree still seems so tall and grand.
Come on, old tram, just take me there,
Where we as kids knew friendship was all we had.
