Shadow

Trying to catch the silence, I wait,
Striving not to scare the dream away.
To grasp the stream of thoughts so fleet,
The thread of worries, wild and sweet —
It seems impossible, I find.
The trembling of my worried mind.
Each day so like the one before,
A passerby smiles — what’s it for?

The worries are all in the past!
But shadow of the path won’t last —
It wandered, as if under skin,
A ghost I couldn’t shut within.

Today, a day without that shade!
To catch the silence — not so hard.
I keep my dream, with care, with grace,
And catch my thoughts in quiet space.
I worry not — it cannot be!
The day is calm, the sky so free.
Still smiles the passerby I meet,
The worries are all in retreat.

The shadow cannot come back now,
At last my heart knows no more throb.
A soul is here to lend me strength,
And peace has come at last, at length
