Ocean Dreams

I'm just lying here on the couch, all cozy and warm. The light is so soft and pretty, and everything is so neat and tidy. It's like a picture, you know? But my mind isn't here at all. It's way, way off, somewhere else entirely.

I can almost hear it, like it's right next to me. The sound of the ocean, rolling in and out, and the squawking of seagulls way up high. The sunbeams tickle my cheeks, and a gentle breeze plays with my hair, making it dance around my face. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect. I can feel the sand between my toes, warm and soft, and smell the salty air. Maybe I'm building a giant sandcastle, or maybe I'm just watching the little crabs scurry across the beach. There are colorful shells scattered everywhere, and I'm collecting the prettiest ones in a little bucket. The water is so clear, I can see little fish swimming around my ankles. It's just so peaceful and happy.

And then… WHOOSH!

Suddenly, it all goes away. The sunbeams vanish, the gentle breeze turns into a fierce wind, and the sound of the waves is replaced by a deafening roar. Thunder cracks, and lightning flashes, turning my cozy living room into a scary, dark place. My brother’s voice, yelling about a bad grade – a three! Ugh. It’s like the storm is right here, inside the house. I guess it’s time to put my headphones on. Time to escape back to the ocean.
