When Our Gods Walked Among Us

A cycle of poems «Whispers of Mari El»

In the twilight of the ancients, when the world was young and wild,
The mountains sang their secrets, and the rivers danced like a child.
With fire in their eyes, the deities roamed free,
Breathing life into the forests, shaping land and sea.

Oh, when our gods walked among us, in the light of the ancient sun,
We felt their strength and wisdom, in every battle fought and won.
With the thunder of their laughter, and the whispers of their grace,
We were one with the earth and sky, in that sacred embrace.

In the shadows of the oaks, where the wild spirits play,
We gathered in their presence, as night turned into day.
With the howl of the wolf and the call of the crow,
The stories of our ancestors began to flow.

Oh, when our gods walked among us, in the light of the ancient sun,
We felt their strength and wisdom, in every battle fought and won.
With the thunder of their laughter, and the whispers of their grace,
We were one with the earth and sky, in that sacred embrace.

But time is a river, ever flowing away,
The gods have faded softly, like the dusk into day.
Yet their echoes still linger in the hearts of those who dare,
To remember the magic, to breathe in the air.

So we gather 'round the fire, with our voices raised high,
Calling forth the spirits beneath the vast night sky.
With every song we sing, we bring them back to life,
In the rhythm of our hearts, we conquer fear and strife.

Oh, when our gods walked among us, in the light of the ancient sun,
We felt their strength and wisdom, in every battle fought and won.
With the thunder of their laughter, and the whispers of their grace,
We were one with the earth and sky, in that sacred embrace.

So let us honor their memory with every breath we take,
For in our blood runs their legacy; it’s a bond we cannot break.
When we dance beneath the stars, let our spirits rise above,
For our gods are still with us, in the language of our love.
