Letter home

How are you, my beloved little one?
Don’t you feel down, all alone?
Why do you write so rarely now —
Not a single word, not a trace?

And I stay silent, yet I know
I still love you, still I hear you.

I’ve made my choice — now I must live
With what I’ve chosen, come what may:
Anxiety, loneliness, disillusion,
Or the joy of being by your side,
Basking in the sun’s bright rays,
Waking up to see a wondrous sight —
A beautiful creature by my side.
Only fate will decide, that’s right.

And I have no right,
And I have no right
To judge the free choice you have made.

Love won’t leave us, don’t you see,
If all this truly is love, indeed.

We will meet again,
Once more, and again.
I will be there —
Seems it’s meant to be, somehow.

You were made for this, I believe,
So that I, with all my heart, could love you —
As if for the very first time.

Sorry, you know me like no one else
