My sun

When I close my eyes at the end of the day
And my mind tries to fly in a dream far away,
When tonight seems like all the nights before in a row,
There's still an escape, a hidden way I can go.

When there are only clouds above me day after day,
It is such a surprise when the sun shines my way.
It never forewarns me, but always defies.
It simply walks in and brightens my life.

It'll never make things easy, but I have no regrets
Save for one than one day you could simply forget.
You're high above me and I'm just on the ground,
And I've never before seen myself as skybound.

For a chance and for us I will try, I will rise,
I will toughen up my wings in a hopeful flight.

When I close my eyes asking what awaits me

I would trade in the uncertainty for the happiness ahead.
