Episode 6

Tony Redford is a journalist
yesterday a strange woman called him
she asked him to meet her in the pub called the Broomstick

The next evening Tony was in the pub
She wondered who she could be
And why she was interested so much in that man
At exactly 6:00 I told young with short dark hair walked in
She looked around the pub and then came over to him
She greeted him
She asked him if he was Mr. Chandler
He said that was right
he asked her  if she was the woman who had called him the previous night
She nodded
She hoped he hadn't been waiting too long
She said she had very little time and she had very many questions to ask him
She looked around  the  pub which was very crowded
They sat down at the table in the corner far away from the other people
she began at once
She said that in his article he had mentioned one engineer and his company
But he wrote very little about exactly what the company made
She  asked  If it was about a new kind of brain very small one
better than other brains on the market
He stared at her in surprise
He asked her  how she knew about that
Because it was one of the companies the most important secrets
 the woman didn't answer for a moment
Then she said that she had been studying the electronics industry of his country for a long time
Again Tony noticed her careful very correct English
It was almost perfect
he asked her where she came from
She said she was a visitor to his country
Tony said that it wasn't an answer to his question
Suddenly the woman turned and looked around the pub
For a moment   she looked like a cat which sensed danger
Then she looked back at him
She was speaking in a very low voice
she asked him to believe her
She said she was a friend then and she needed his help and badly
She asked him where he had got  his information about that engineer
She insisted on him telling her the truth
Totally thought for a moment and then he told her about the engineer who had worked in that factory in Southampton
He said he hadn't found out very much about him because he had died in an accident 2 weeks before
The woman asked him what kind of accident it had been
Tony told her all he knew about that
While they were talking they didn't notice the man who was sitting far away from them
On the other side of the pub  Reading a newspaper
He was very tall and he wore strange round glasses
he was listening to the conversation and could understand every word they said
And his eyes were more than eyes
You could see through the newspaper
he was sitting there and listening and watching

Cops on wheels

What is your idea of a good job?
Would you like to spend all day on the skates In the lovely streets of Paris?
That is what a group of French officers do everyday In their blue uniforms
They speed through Paris traffic on inline skates
Look out!
They chase thieves  and  try  to catch up with them
They give tickets to drivers who are talking on cell phones while driving
It is a very good job
The cops sKate only four hours a day four days a week
The rest of the time they go to the gym because they have to stay in shape for this job
But it can be dangerous the streets are not always flat
No officer has seriously hurt himself yet
But some have taken a bad fall
Young French women like the cops on wheels and tourists love them too
I am in thousands of Japanese photos says one cop
