When I m dead

When I’m dead I won’t need your love.
But I am still here, so love me now.
Love me as long as I can breathe.
Love me in reality, not in your dreams.

Life is so joyful and life is so fine,
It’s given for this, and not to pine,
Not for nursing offence in the heart,
Nor for hurting someone like a dart.

Love me not for luxury’s shine,
Nor for my car, sleek and fine.
Nor because you’re my constant choice,
But with the heart, for no other cause.

Love me for my eyelashes, it would be more true,
And for the conversations the whole night through,
For the youth of my soul, love me simply,
And for my shoulders with little dimples!

I don’t need a monument with a column tall,
I don’t need your belated words of love.
If through many days, so endless and vain,
I longed to be loved by you anyway.

Death seems impossible, somewhere there,
While the reality is here, and our Big Affair.
But just imagine, it’s not so hard:
Tomorrow, death could tear us apart.

When I’m dead I don’t need your love.
So love me here, so love me now.
Love me as long as I can be near.
Love me while awake, not in a dream.
