Beneath the Banner of the Broken
Clouds descend on ravaged field,
Colors faded, hope concealed,
Echoes lost in wounds unspoken -
Beneath the banner of the broken.
Shadows march where sunlight died,
Silent souls who never lied.
Beneath the banner of the broken,
Flags in ash and vows unspoken,
Hearts in silence softly token,
Strength in pain that can’t be woken -
Beneath the banner of the broken.
Steel and sorrow, marching slow,
Broken ranks with heads bowed low,
Bravery the scars will show,
Yet haunted by the undertow.
Shadows march where sunlight died,
Silent souls who never lied.
Beneath the banner of the broken,
Flags in ash and vows unspoken,
Hearts in silence softly token,
Strength in pain that can’t be woken -
Beneath the banner of the broken.
Dust and memories on parade,
Promises that couldn’t stay,
Courage shines through bleak array,
Rising dawn despite the gray.
If dawn could heal the cursed and weak,
Mend the wounds no words can speak,
Would you return, your spirit seek -
Or leave me here with banners bleak?
Twilight gathers what remains,
Honor carved by loss and chains,
Still I stand in endless rain -
Beneath the banner, bearing pain.
