Echoes of the Last Banner
Battlefields in twilight flame,
Silent shadows call my name.
Broken armor, spirits tanner -
Still I hear the last banner.
Nightfall whispers stories cold,
Legends lost and armies bold.
Echoes of the last banner fly,
Through shattered stars and crimson sky,
Lightning rages in my eye -
Echoes of the last banner, high.
We rode as thunder split the dawn,
Every oath and fear withdrawn,
Steel and hope were nearly gone,
But the banner carried on.
Nightfall whispers stories cold,
Legends lost and armies bold.
Echoes of the last banner fly,
Through shattered stars and crimson sky,
Lightning rages in my eye -
Echoes of the last banner, high.
Scars remain as torches burn,
Stone and valor, both we earn,
For every vanquished year we turn,
Still the echoes make me yearn.
If dawn restored the fields to green,
Would you recall the world we’ve seen?
Or walk where silent ghosts convene -
And mourn the banner’s fall between?
All is hush but memories scream,
Wind-blown fragments of our dream,
On distant hills they rise and gleam -
Echoes of the last banner’s theme.
