Through the Ashes, I Still Call

A cycle of poems «Your Love Was My Siege Weapon»

Embers swirl upon the wind,
Night descends, old wounds rescind,
Shattered hope within the squall -
Through the ashes, I still call.

Fire burned but couldn’t break,
From the darkness, voices wake.

Through the ashes, I still call,
Rising high when shadows fall,
Steel in hand, I heed the thrall,
Defiant heart against them all -
Through the ashes, I still call.

Lost in flames that raged so bright,
Scars remembered through the fight,
Dreams once golden, turned to night,
But I vow to stand for right.

Fire burned but couldn’t break,
From the darkness, voices wake.

Through the ashes, I still call,
Rising high when shadows fall,
Steel in hand, I heed the thrall,
Defiant heart against them all -
Through the ashes, I still call.

Broken lands and iron rain,
Every triumph forged through pain,
Hope rekindled, break the chain,
Hear my cry above the bane.

If fate would bend or time repeal,
I’d rise anew on wings of steel,
Unbroken, thirsty to reveal -
The fire in me, real.

Night will fade and embers glow,
From the ruins, life will grow,
Evermore, my voice will flow -
Through the ashes, you will know.
