"Emily rang upon receiving news,
Saying, "I suppose you've heard -
About Chloe?"

When I darted to the window,
And peered outside,
I barely could believe my eyes—
A grand limousine pulled up
To Chloe's driveway...

Oh, I wonder why she's departing,
Or where her journey's bound,
I suppose she's got her reasons,
But I just won't be found
Wondering, for twenty-four years
I've lived right next door to Chloe.

Twenty-four years, just waiting for a moment,
To tell her how I truly feel, and perhaps catch a second look,
Now I must adjust to life without Chloe beside me...

We grew up side by side,
Two kids in the park,
Carved our initials,
Deep into the bark—
Me and Chloe.

Now she walks through the door,
Head held high,
For a fleeting instant, our eyes met,
As a large limousine moved slowly
Away from Chloe's drive.
