Thankfulness
Maybe yes, or perhaps it is not.
Still, the warmth of your hearts pulls me under,
And your kindness I’ve never forgot.
But the faces — they fade in reflection,
Time runs down like the rain on the pane.
If we meet by some sweet imperfection,
Let me whisper my thanks once again.
For your goodness, your care, and your kindness,
For your wish just to stand by my side,
For your warmth in the long, heavy silence,
When the night seemed too dark and too wide.
I will give back the love that you gave me,
All the good I can carry and share,
For this chain is the light that still saves me —
It’s your love that keeps all the world fair.
