English translation of a poem by Sergey Yesenin, originally written in 1925

Who am I? What do I bring?
A mere dreamer, lost in night,
Seeking счастье's elusive ring
In the shadows of dim light.

I live this life, a fleeting guest,
Amidst others, on earth's stage.
Kissing you, a lingering caress,
Out of habit, not a wage.

Loving words, like sparks alight,
"I love you," "forever," "my dear,"
Yet, within, the same old fight,
No true passion left to hear.

My heart's not harsh, its flame not stern,
For a walking birch, you were designed,
For many lovers, including me, it yearns.

In search of kindred, lost in pain,
I bear no jealousy, no scorn,
For I've loved you, in part, in vain,

A dreamer lost in shades of gray,
Eyes' blue lost in life's mist,
Loved you, a mere passing day,
With others sharing this, our twist.
