Damning curiosity

I've been thinking about your thoughts,
Torturing my tired mind with guesses,
Freezing on the spot every time I see the dots,
Taunting with a promise of your message.

I've never been so scared of misunderstanding,
Am I confusing fear and anticipation?
I'm getting a bit tired of defending
The hardly budding romance to my friendships.

Were you just curious about your friend's little sister?
Were you expecting me to make you laugh like back in May?
I'm spending time, ink and efforts on you, mister,
And still expect to see no one as I step off this train.

This poem started with elation,
Well, it's on the precipice of burning out,
You proved to be an inspiration.
A man of words? They're running out.

But I don't want to be a bitch
And I'm still curious about my brother's friend.
Perhaps, this episode is just a glitch
And there is still a chance of happy end.
