Winter s Kiss
A winter’s chill draws near.
No more by firelight we sit,
The embers disappear.
The apples gleam in baskets bright,
The harvest’s work is done.
But do not let your heart grow cold—
The light has just begun.
The winter winds will fade so fast,
Like dreams beneath the sun.
And spring will wake with tender hands
Before the year is run.
Then summer comes with golden light,
And life begins anew.
To love, to laugh, to watch the dawn,
To dance in morning’s dew.
The seasons turn, yet love remains,
A flame that never dies.
Through autumn’s sigh and winter’s hush,
We’ll meet in spring’s bright skies.
Oh, do not weep—the snow will melt,
I’ll dry your tears away.
Just smile, and sorrow turns to dust,
Look up—it’s break of day!
For side by side, we’ll brave the storm,
No night too dark to bear.
So warm the wine, and hold me close,
And sing into the air.
