Old Man Stas

I’m merry old Stas, with a heart full of cheer,
In my village I dwell, and my zeal’s still here.
Built a house with my wife, though the kids live away,
But they visit in droves—what a riotous day!

A dog and a cat, both quite old and quite wise,
They eat and they nap—guard duty? No prize.
But oh, what a noise when they start their refrain—
The dog barks all night, and the cat yowls in vain!

Then my wife joins the fray—that’s my cue to retreat,
To the river I wander, where the whispers are sweet.
Birds sing me to peace ‘neath the moon’s gentle glow,
Till my frayed nerves unwind, and I’m ready to go.

Back home once again, with a smile and a sigh,
I’ll cook, fix, and host—never asking them why.
But if tempers should flare and my patience wears thin,
I’ll flee to Cambodia—let the quiet begin!

I love my wild crew, though they test my resolve,
When the chaos runs high, I just tighten my resolve.
I’m tough as old oak, and I know the way through—
Keep the fridge packed with treats, and the love will shine true
