Cease, O War

The autumn rain, a soft refrain,
Beats on the pane in bluesy strain.
Each drop plays jazz, a wild, sweet sound,
And I hum along as the world spins round.

The rhythm drips with memories bright,
Of careless youth and love’s first light.
A warmth still lingers in my chest—
I’ll hold it close, my heart’s bequest.

Remember when we danced so free,
On that small porch, just you and me?
The maple leaves beneath our feet,
Your smile so shy, my heart’s heartbeat.

We swore we’d never say goodbye,
And still, through years, you’re by my side.
Your laughter lights the grayest day—
A love like ours won’t fade away.

Forever bound, our song won’t end,
This melody our souls defend.
No parting touch, no last goodbye—
Just rain and love and you and I.

So twirl with me beneath the rain,
Let blues sway us in sweet refrain.
Love in the storm, the jazz plays on,
A shelter where we both belong.
