Boat -Louisa-
What British character is for,
I tell a story to discuss
And make a point, therefore.
One knows life is not a line
That stratches straight from day to day.
It may be going just fine
Until one gets a late Mayday.
Well, it is easy to shut door
Enjoying comfort of warm home.
But there’s something at the core
To keep one true to life genome.
Mayday received: “The Great Storm rolls”.
Lifeboat station got a plea:
““The “Forest Hall” lost all controls.
The ship needs help at rocking sea”.
The challenge was long time ago,
At Lynmouth - eighteen ninety nine!
It was “Louisa”, oar driven boat,
In Jan to throw a lifeline.
Assembled crew, Coxswain to steer,
But start conditions were too harsh.
A sheltered beach at Porlock Weir
Was chosen for launch without crash.
Ten-ton lifeboat dragged uphill,
With thirteen-mile overland fight,
Demolished wall and downed tree,
They made their way all overnight.
Resilient and being tough,
And moving forward despite odds,
With sea around going rough,
They rowed straight not for awards.
The ship was saved with happy end.
Boat crew was brave - to tell no more.
They all returned. No great pretend.
They all were greeted at the door.
No time for glory. Life goes on.
They simply did what had to do.
But looking back one has to learn
What it does mean for living due.
What it goes mean for staying true
To real values of our life,
To overcome and go through,
And to achieve for what we strive.
If we are human, we unite
To help each other to move on.
Well, let this story to ignite
Our will to live with every dawn.
