A Bit of Happiness
On dusty stalls
With books and lace,
I saw some joy
On a lonely face.
The people passed
On hurried feet,
A little thing
So bittersweet.
I saw a glance,
A silent plea,
A piece of bliss
It had to be.
A lonely soul,
A fragile heart,
To live a life,
To play a part.
A brand new chance,
A brand new start,
To heal the soul,
And be set apart.
The day grew cold,
The sun went down,
The vendor packed
His goods for town.
I saw it shake,
A tiny form,
And longed to keep
It safe from storm.
I saw a glance,
A silent plea,
A piece of bliss
Was calling me.
A lonely soul,
A fragile heart,
To live a life,
To play a part.
A brand new chance,
A brand new start,
To heal the soul,
And be set apart.
“How much?” I asked,
My voice was low.
“Just take it, please,
And let it grow.”
I held it close,
Against the cold,
A simple story
To be told.
A lonely soul,
A fragile heart,
To live a life,
To play a part.
A brand new chance,
A brand new start,
To heal the soul,
And be set apart.
I brought it home,
And now I see,
I’ll never, ever
Set it free...
(set it free... free... free...)
