The duet of Spartacus and Crassus. The last meetin

The libretto of "The Last Meeting".

The day of the last battle. The armies of irreconcilable enemies stand in battle formations against each other.
Spartacus is informed that a parliamentary messenger has arrived from the Romans, delivering a personal message from Crassus for the leader of the former slaves. He reads aloud, in front of his legion commanders, its contents. Crassus asks for one last meeting before the battle. He does not demand, he does not order, but he asks, showing due respect to Spartacus, as the recognized leader of the rebels, even by Rome itself.
Spartacus, despite some objections from his deputies that this is an insidious Roman trap, nevertheless agrees and, accompanied by several guards, wearing his famous, easily recognizable armor, rides towards Crassus.   
The personality of Crassus is extremely interesting to him, Spartacus. To see the commander of the Roman army in person not on the battlefield, but in peaceful, albeit relatively, conditions, and to understand in person what kind of person he is, as a commander, as an irreconcilable enemy is an interesting task for Spartacus.…
Crassus wanted to personally meet the man whom arrogant Rome had so underestimated at first, for which he had paid with the blood of tens of thousands of his citizens and who had kept the republic in fear of the "new Hannibal" for two long years…
And here they are facing each other.
The guards of both commanders remained on the sidelines.
Both are unarmed, and Crassus is the first to reach out to the enemy, feeling, as expected, the strong, hard handshake of the gladiator.

Spartaco (2).
- Non vale la pena, Imperatore.

Io sono molti dei miei cari
perse per volont; la Roma inflessibile
E neanche a me piace stare bene.
Sangue per sangue, morte per morte.

A me non credo che i nostri dei siano
Un giorno l'invieranno.
Beh, Spartaco.
; stato un piacere conoscermi
e vederti vivo,
invece di rappresentare secondo le storie
matrone spaventata
e quelli di Roma, quelli di mariti,
chi ha dimenticato la paura davanti a te
l'onore e il dovere di un guerriero...
Addio, Spartaco.
Non desidero la fortuna.
ma lascia che ti tenga il destino
dalla spada romana
alla crocifissione stessa.

And the two leaders retreated to their escorts and both turned around when they saddled their horses, Crassus made a farewell gesture, Spartacus responded with a nod of his head. The mounted groups, kicking up dust, rushed headlong to their troops…
