The yellow flower

Elina Pashneva

The yellow flower sits and stares,
But with despair, and yes, it cares.
While everyone can move around,
It’s standing there, bound to be found.

One day a little girl sat down
Close to the flower, right on the ground.
She started picking a bouquet,
It was for sure a lovely day!

She plucked out every rose and lily,
All for her mother, she loved so dearly.
But when she saw the yellow flower,
She picked a small, different sunflower.

And when she did, the lovely lad,
He felt so small, so weak and sad.
And even though he had a chance,
It came so quickly, like a glance.
