Animal chaplaincy reminds us: just as overpaid taxes return, so must overpaid suffering in animals be returned through our care and compassion.
Reflection: In behavioral terms, the world records every response. Excess suffering is like a cost that has been overpaid. Our role as chaplains is to introduce new reinforcement — love, safety, and compassion — so that the balance is restored and life can flourish again.
P.S. To write in an animal chaplaincy journal is to listen twice: once to the animal’s soul, and once to your own.
