I Don t Know the Pain

I don’t know the pain of love untold,
The silent ache, the heart grown cold,
Yet in your eyes, a fire burns bright,
A melody of day and night.

I don’t know the weight of endless tears,
The hollow nights, the vanished years,
But when you speak, the shadows part,
And light spills soft into my heart.

I don’t know the sting of love denied,
The dreams that wilt, the hope that died,
Yet in your touch, I find my way,
Through every dusk and breaking day.

I don’t know the grief of love gone wrong,
The faded notes of sorrow’s song,
But when you laugh, the world is new,
A sky untouched by storm or rue.

I don’t know the wounds that time can carve,
The love once fierce, now faint and starved,
Yet in your arms, I learn to see
A love untouched by misery.

I don’t know the pain—but this I know:
Your love is spring through winter’s snow,
A balm, a song, a sweet refrain,
That shields me from all hurt and pain.
