Autumn Wind
A melody’s playing, a voice I have known.
I smile to myself as the music begins,
Remembering that night, and the way it had been.
The barman winked,
He poured me a drink.
He said, “Hello,
I’m glad you came in.”
The clinking of glasses,
The band starts to play,
But everything round me
Reminds me of you again.
Outside the rain was singing,
In jazz-lit autumn night.
Across the shining pavement
The wind was taking flight.
Oh, my memory,
You never let it fade -
That magic little moment,
Your beauty never swayed.
The scent of bourbon, the smoke in the air,
I see your shadow - I feel you are there.
I softly whisper the song in my head:
“The dawn is coming... but you’re not in my bed.”
Though you are not here,
You live in my heart.
The dawn is near...
The smoke drifts apart...
Outside the rain was singing,
In jazz-lit autumn night.
Along the empty pavement
The wind was taking flight.
Oh, my memory,
You never let it fade -
That magic little moment,
Your beauty never swayed.
