Svetlana was lying flat on the bed and groaning, “Alice, I don’t know what Death is, but I know that now it’s in me, or somewhere very, very close.”

“I have already said that the Forces of Darkness can take on any image in order to confuse an inexperienced Soul. Hindus believe that Light comes from the Spirit of Death. “There is a subtle nuance. If a person, being in a physical body, ate only when he was really hungry, and solely in order to maintain the physical body activity, this is one situation. Cakes, alcoholic drinks and all sorts of excesses are not required to maintain the health of the physical body, but it’s to them that one gets addicted and used. Such addiction is primarily psychical. Of course, the physical body is no longer there, so the feeling of hunger and thirst won’t appear in someone who was independent psychically. The psychic addiction will remain with the Soul There, since Psyche is Soul. Why do the monks and Saints try to reduce the list of consumed foods to the required minimum? Exactly because of that reason.”

“How many such images are to be shown us There?”

“They’ll show everything, watching the reaction.”

“Who is drooling for what?”

“Well, drooling or bursting in tears. In general, you got it right. Therefore, ideally, death should occur when all earthly passions and desires have already been outlived, extinguished during life. The best death is natural, due to old age. Not without reason, in ancient times, there was a custom according to which elderly parents left for the monastery and prepared for the transition.”

“After that the Soul is judged, isn’t it?”

“Judgment occurs automatically while you are watching the movie, although it’s easier to imagine some Scales. The Forces of Darkness are throwing pebbles in the Left Bowl, and the Forces of Light – in the Right one. The main purpose of the Heavenly exam is to know oneself. The Court determines what the Soul itself decided about itself. The Self-determination of the Soul takes place through the verdicts of its Conscience. “Yes, they passed it at a lightning speed getting excellent marks, because everything earthly for them already during their lifetime is a passed stage, and they atoned for their sins with their holiness, their Soul merged with the Spirit, and they represent a single whole. When St. Macarius died, the entire World of Dark Forces lined up in rows in the area where the exam took place, in order to silently contemplate the procession of the Spiritual Soul. And when you and I come to the exam, it’s even scary to think how much shouting, noise, din will be There, how many hooves will clatter and how much dust and dirt will rise into the air.”

“Up to 40 days in Christianity, up to 49 days according to the Tibetan Book of the Dead.”

“He is not dead in fact. The deceased is often more alive than many living. Prayer, good deeds on his behalf. Prayer is the wings that support the Soul from falling into the Lower Spheres. And the dead are laid facing the East. However, Paradise is not the Highest Sphere. Beyond it, there are other Heavens. Many Saints were first in Paradise, and from there they ascended to the Upper Heaven of Heavens.”

“Do people see each other there?”

“Souls, not people. In Paradise and in the Higher Spheres they do. As Socrates said, ‘Death is an acquisition, since it’s either a dream without visions, or a way to move to the place where I can communicate with the shadows of the famous dead’.”

“And how the famous dead can be recognized there?”

“Many Saints had Spiritual Vision even during their lifetime on the Earth. Some Masha, for example, comes to the Elder for the first time, and before she has time to utter a word, he already says to her, ‘What difference does it make that Misha doesn’t love you? The main thing is that you love’!”

“It can happen in 40 days. This is the so-called Death the Second. “How quickly do they return?”

“It depends on the task of the Spirit. Is there a deadline? Does it need to be solved with specific people? What physical body does it need? The Spirit was preparing for incarnation in advance, choosing physical parents and a specific position of the Stars and Planets, to form the pattern of the Soul and a certain physical body needed by the Spirit. After all, both houses are not formed arbitrarily.
