The lights flicker like disco stars
A mirror walls me in
No exit
No bars
Button lit but the floor won’t come
Feels like life hit pause

Up or down
I’m in-between
Metal box or a time machine?
I’m stuck
Stuck in the elevator
Life’s a joke
Punchline comes later
I press the bell
It sings off-key

A stranger hums some random tune
We bond
We laugh
Then silence looms
The numbers don’t move
The time’s a tease
Claustrophobia whispers
I dream of stairs

I dream of not being trapped somewhere

We’ve got a vending machine
Wait—no snacks—just a cruel dream
I’m stuck
