I learnt to love you from afar
to serve without words and vulgar affectation,
to lead through storms in sandy tender silks,
protecting you from demons and disgraces;
To love with heart, the manner is so thin...
to look at you without bitterness and passion,
not waiting for a daring night call,
not seeing dreams released to me by Darkness;
To love you much, behind the iron door,
not mixing up the spaces on the borders,
avoiding corners, softening the walls,
not weaving hopes for the royal castle;
To love you as in ancient sacred times,
and thanking God in obvious misfortune,
to sail towards the lights of Milkey Way,
which calms the soul by heavenly Communion,
since I’ve learnt to love you from afar...
