The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder presents a unique perspective of pictorial space. It is a famous oil painting, and much has been said about it. In this video we are going to look at it as if we had just walked into the Metropolitan Museum of Art to look at it for the first time. We will analyze the painting's unusual composition and way of shifting pictorial space, moving us around, changing perspectives, and creating a reverse panorama.
