My heart is heavy, shadows fall deep

My heart is heavy, shadows fall deep,
There's a silence inside me, deep sorrow I keep.
Too much to witness, too much to bear,
A burning anguish, beyond all compare.

On days like these, I can't bear to look,
At the television, the news, or social media's book.
I turn my eyes away from the screen's harsh glow,
There's too much pain, too much sorrow to know.

Because my spirit is bruised, my core feels so raw,
Because words fail me, they don't capture the flaw.
Because I want to scream, with all of my might,
To shout at the darkness, to rage at the night!

They say a tree cries out, like a human in pain,
When the fire consumes it, again and again.

When a forest burns down, the heavens all weep,
A scorching inferno, where life cannot keep.
A desperate battle, a blazing last stand,
The trees scream in anguish across the scorched land!

What the fire left behind:
A forest turned to ash.
Bees with shattered wings.
Helpless hedgehogs.
Scorched squirrels.
Turtles, rabbits.
Flocks of birds burning in the sky.
Animal remains beneath the cinders,
And the heavy scent of burnt flesh,
As ashes rained down on us,
A mother's heartbroken cry:
"My child used to run among these trees..."

And the phantom cries of trees, the screams of the people, echo still

And a great silence falls,
And a sorrow so deep.
And the untold,
Unfinished, tragic story
Of a thousand-year-old forest.

And a great silence falls,
And a sorrow so deep.
And the untold...
Unfinished...
(Acapella)
...tragic story!
