She will not see these words
This fact of life he knows for sure.
He's all alone with his mistakes
Upon this cold and empty shore.
She will not hear this verse he spoke,
The fault is his — he knows the score.
Two paths he made by splitting one -
He prays they’ll merge once more.
Her eyes won’t see his pain and grief,
Though still she knows they're true.
He only hopes, despite his words,
She knows he feels hers too.
Her ears won’t hear his tired sighs,
That come when he's alone.
He sits and contemplates his life,
His own decisions to bemoan.
His heart can't fill this empty space,
Despite the calls that he receives.
His lust for others does not exist,
She's the one that he perceives.
His mind cannot calm down at all,
The anxious thoughts will not subside.
He only wishes for these months
To come and go like lunar tides.
Their minds won’t contemplate
How all this could have gone,
If just they lived a different life:
No kings, no queens, no pawns.
Their hearts will never coalesce
Until the painful roots are gone.
But even then, who can predict
If growth together carries on.
The path ahead is never clear,
Yet clarity is not their cause:
She will not see these words he wrote,
But, God, deep down he hopes she does.
