I WILL NOT LOOK BACK
It all has gone – my spring’s elation,
The novelty of first love’s words,
The heart’s to lover’s oath ovation
That outdoes the songs of birds.
The memory of snowdrops’ cool smell,
The trill of sparkling clear streams,
The misty image of the wedding bell,
The flight of hot far-flying dreams.
They are all gone. They will not come back.
I will get used again to what I had before.
There will be things that I will sure lack,
But I will stop myself from wanting more.
I will not cry. Nor will I ever despair –
Why should I? Fate has had its say.
I will just say, ” I do not care.
I will have to find a new – true way”.
