I am not

I am not from the East or the West.
I am not Christian or Jew or Muslim.
I am not Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi, or Zen.
I do not belong to any established religion
or any cultural system.
I am neither the body nor the soul,
for I belong to Divine Soul
of my Lord, my Beloved.

Rumi

This poem is one of my favourite excerpt attributed to Rumi, the 13th-century Persian poet and mystic. It reflects themes of spiritual transcendence, universal love and the idea that true connection lies beyond religious and cultural boundaries. The imagery of the full moon and the figure with a rose symbolizes enlightenment and divine love, which are central to Rumi's philosophy.
