Winter Morning English translation

English translation of the poem "Zimnee utro"
by Alexander Pushkin*

Frost and sunlight, wondrous morning,
Wake, my darling, no more yawning.
Time to open lovely eyes,
Meet the Northern dawn's arise.

Like the star that rules the night,
Shine, my beauty, in my sight.
Yesterday the blizzard howled,
Through the cloudy night so foul.

Look outside, the snow is bright,
Under skies of blue and light.
Forest black with frosted pine,
Sparkles in the morning shine.

All the room is glowing gold,
Fireplace warm, the stories told.
Crackling logs and steaming tea,
Darling, come and smile with me.

Let us take the sleigh today,
Brown horse ready for the way.
Sliding through the morning snow,
Winter's joy in hearts we know.
