It s terribly frightening to loose your face..
To break your word, forget all trace of grace,
To promise much, then turn and walk away,
And not recall the lies you dared to say.
To feign surprise with wide and innocent eyes,
Insisting you’ve done more than truth allows—
Then keep the mask, repeating clever lies,
Until the path back home no longer shows.
Life makes you choose, and every single day
Demands a toll not easy to foresee.
You could refuse to promise, walk your way,
And live like those whom sorrow cannot see.
But worse than silence, trying to save all,
And lifting burdens never yours to bear—
You might forget your life, beyond recall,
Or wound it deeply in your earnest care.
To find the balance—knowing when to part,
Refusing yet with kindness and respect—
Is wisdom rooted deep within the heart,
And not to help may be the truer act.
