On the Death of a Bee
I wrote this poem as a farewell to a creature —small, almost invisible, yet playing a huge role in preserving life on Earth.
The bee lived a short life, full of labor and meaning. It took nothing — only gave:light, honey, care, renewal, and even in its last moment — protection for the most vulnerable.
In its fate lies a reflection of the meaning of life itself. And so its death is not an end,but a reason to reflect.
On the Death of a Bee
Farewell, bee! Long live the bee!
You barely ate,
Yet you created much.
Warmth and honey —
A gift of sunlight
you gave to us.
After sixteen hours of heavy toil
And visits to five thousand blooms,
You flew home, worn and slow.
Your body weary —
But the nectar you had gathered,
You still gave to the hive.
The flowers nod in quiet thanks —
You cherished their bright attire,
And brought new life to all their hues.
For joy, you knew,
Was shared calling,
And quiet recognition.
You used your sting only
When danger neared the little ones.
Then you were a fearless warrior —
And all else-
Meant nothing.
