Breath of night

Breath of Night
An old bench.
A rain came down
To the dry earth.
And then man sat
And stared at the wall.
He sang and saw
How his words fall.
Day after day,
His pristine call
Mightily wakes up
The world of thrall.
He sings, he sees
His words take wings,
Fly to the east
And dingly dings.
The empty bench
And the bright dawn
Find only song,
'Cause man is gawn
Forth tae the east,
O'er seas an' braes.
His voice still rings
Through a' the days.
