The Conversation in the Womb

Two unborn twins in their mother’s womb,
Held quiet talk within that darkened room.
A weighty theme disturbed their gentle stay—
One laughed, the other had much more to say.

“Do you believe there’s life beyond this birth?
Some realm beyond this small and silent earth?
You’ve lost your mind with all that foolish lore!
Just look around—there’s nothing, nothing more!”

But gently spoke the first with glowing eyes:
“We must have faith—this life is not the prize.
It doesn’t end; it changes, finds new form.
We shall be born and live outside this womb.

There is a world where light forever flows,
Where we shall breathe and move without these cords.
There, Mother’s love will wrap us, full and close—
She is our God, the One whom we’ll adore.”

“You trust in Mother?” scoffed the second twin,
“You’ve never seen her—how can you begin?
To love what hides? What proof has she yet shown?
No harm’s been done to me. I drift this path alone.”

“I need no myths, no soft imagined grace,
No life beyond this dark and pulsing space.
We live by cords; outside, we cannot thrive—
This is the only world where we’re alive!”

The first replied: “How blind you choose to be—
She’s all around us, though we cannot see.
She is the source, the soul of everything,
The voice, the warmth, the reason that we sing.

With every day, she draws us ever near.
Her love is calling, tender, strong, and clear.
And I believe I’ll truly become me,
The day I see her face—at last, and free.”
