Let me live! Дайте Жизни!
Let me live!
Solitarily crackles a loudspeaker of the blockade,
Shostakovich rings out in a steady, resolute bell of alarm,
A child asks for bread in the darkness of Leningrad,
Gunpowder blowing apart the screams of doomed soldiers.
Let me live-
These words are filled with faith in oneself,
And your body, Matrossov, is crucified on a pillbox,
The millstone of these dark years is grinding me down,
I accept the fate of unresolved issues.
Let me live:
Burning with anguish and broken heart,
Offended by the wrath of deadly wrongs,
Offer a prayer for desolate soul,
Dried out veins will be hydrated by love.
Let me live.
They exalt your tornments to the heavens, priest.
The fury of rock amplifies the poet's avowal,
Revelation by light will open the darkness,
God will not leave your pain unanswered.
Let me live!
I want to drink the sea and eat the land,
A new, radiant star will sanctify the East,
Open the gates of womb of the mother,
The delicate stem of a seedling breaks through the asphalt!
New life!
Banners made from shreds of a vast sky,
A cupola clothed in white shines in the dawn,
I glorify you with the victory of a new life,
And I bestow upon you the flame of crimson hope!
