The Cities

VERSE1
The cities I've glanced at,
the maps of places I've read
That was my Arctic Ocean’s part, -
               now who claim it instead.
There were some heartfelt,
               old and important things
Then something strange happened,
               I fell head over heels.

CHORUS
Water cries, drop by drop
               are gathering in the stream.
I don’t see, I don’t hear,
               I'm breathing my dream.
The swan feather’s light flight,
               the past swallows it whole.
It’s mine, yeah, it’s mine,
               it’s my winter-powdered soul.
…winter-powdered soul.

VERSE2
I remember the names,
people who called me by name.
Once and for all, this is my fatherland,
                and I’m choosing the same.
The cloudberry is on my tongue,
                that is its wonderful part.
And the favorite sea, the Barents Sea
                is in my heart.

VERSE3
It would be good if we didn't
                choose the incorrect way.
Unfortunately, dominants
                control and lead us astray
I would really like
to lie in the northern swamps’ grass.
Don't forget yourself; don’t fly away,
don't let the right turn pass.
