Let’s sit together, you and I,
And think of all the days gone by,
The moments sweet, the moments sad,
The joy we’ve had, the tears we’ve had.
When we looked in each other’s eyes,
We wed our souls beneath the skies,
We vowed to love until the end,
And calm the hearts that couldn’t mend.
You healed my soul with tender care,
Mended the pieces of despair,
You promised me, your heart to keep,
Forevermore, your love so deep.
I swore to love you, and to stay,
To walk with you through every day,
To cherish you, to hold you near,
And smile for you through every tear.
And once again, with that same smile,
You gaze at me, your love awhile,
Wipe off a tear, and hold me tight,
And say:
— “I love you, my heart’s light.”
I love you deeply, just like then,
