Before I Go

Before I go, I want to live,
I want to feel, I want to give.
Before I go, I want to say,
How much I loved, my own true way.

Before I go, I want to scream,
I want to laugh, I want to dream.
Before I go, I want to breathe,
And feel this life, in ways I’ll leave.

Before I go, I want to cry,
To speak of times I’ve wondered why.
Of battles fought, of pain so deep,
The secrets that I couldn’t keep.

Before I go, I want to show
How much I loved, and let you know.
Before I go, I want to be
A piece of you, a memory.

Before I go, I want to try
To leave some light, to say goodbye.
Before I go, I hope you’ll see
How proud you were to be with me.

Before I go, I thank you all
For every gift, for every call.
For giving strength, for lifting me,
For letting me just simply be.

Before I go—
But I will go.
This is my poem,
Let it be known.
