XXI. The Universe

Weathered stairwells, darkened halls
Where only starlight creeps and the magic weeps
Ancient writings on the walls
You can dare and trace them with your fingertips

But don't you open your eyes lest you want to go blind
In the maze of your mind you can drift forever
Oh but never descend when not ready to find
The darkness of the universe and the color of the blood that courses through

The heart of the world

Empty spaces, truths untold
Buried beneath the ground now don't make a sound
Caves of wonders to behold
Lit by the silver sparks of the stars that drowned

You can join them and see all that was and will be
In the depth of the sea neath the well of sorrows
Fill your lungs and you'll learn or just turn back and flee
If the darkness of the universe is too much for you to bear when standing near

The heart of the world

Feel it beating
Deep inside of your core
And repeating
Ancient echoes of yore
Still receding
To the old tales of lore
But you know now that there is so much more

To this story
As it pumps through your veins
All the glory
Of the silence and chains
Rise with fury
Cause that's all that remains

When the music is gone and you're left all alone
Free to wander and roam down the winding rivers
With the fish in a desperate attempt to atone
For the sins not yet committed and to give

Your heart to the world
