What if life has passed away
And nothing more lies ahead?
Cold emptiness, just a grey day,
The universe’s dark ice spread.
The words once spoken will fade out,
Their echoes lost in the void,
A star that shone so bright throughout
Now fades like moonless nights destroyed.
Could it be that not forever
Life’s river flows through our hands?
A dying star now cold and severed—
A measure of mortal lands?
How sad to think this is all we get,
No time left for what remains unsaid.
To the vastness, none of us matter yet,
In vacuum, no breath can be shed.
The universe doesn t care
