Calm After the Storm

A cycle of poems «When Your Love Turns to Ashes»

The wind howled a mournful, lonely cry
Rain lashed against the window pane, sky so high
Turned a bruised and angry violet hue
Whispers of fear, I clung to you

But the thunder's gone, the lightning sleeps
The ocean sighs, no longer weeps
The air is clean, the world washed bright
Calm after the storm, bathed in golden light

Broken branches scattered on the ground
Shattered dreams, a wreckage all around
Memories flicker, ghosts of what has been
Picking up the pieces, starting clean

But the thunder's gone, the lightning sleeps
The ocean sighs, no longer weeps
The air is clean, the world washed bright
Calm after the storm, bathed in golden light

We weathered the tempest, hand in hand
Found strength in weakness, made a solid stand
The scars remain, a reminder bold
Of the story we bravely unfold

But the thunder's gone, the lightning sleeps
The ocean sighs, no longer weeps
The air is clean, the world washed bright
Calm after the storm, bathed in golden light

A rainbow arches, a promise true
Of brighter days, just me and you
Calm after the storm, a quiet grace
Finding solace in this sacred space.
Calm after the storm, at peace at last.
