Wings to Fly Again

A cycle of poems «When Your Love Turns to Ashes»

Caged bird singing, a melody of pain
Feathers ruffled, caught in the pouring rain
Days turned to years behind these bars of gray
Dreaming of a sky, a brighter yesterday

But the storm is passing, a flicker in the light
Hope is dawning, breaking through the night
Wings are stirring, shaking off the rust
Time to rise again, on courage and on trust
Gonna fly again, gonna soar so high
Leave the shadows behind, and touch the open sky
Wings to fly again, that's all I need
To break these chains and plant a freedom seed

Remember the feeling of wind beneath my wings
The sun on my face, the joy that freedom brings
Doubt whispers softly, 'You're too weak to try'
But I hear a stronger voice, telling me to fly

But the storm is passing, a flicker in the light
Hope is dawning, breaking through the night
Wings are stirring, shaking off the rust
Time to rise again, on courage and on trust
Gonna fly again, gonna soar so high
Leave the shadows behind, and touch the open sky
Wings to fly again, that's all I need
To break these chains and plant a freedom seed

Every scar a lesson, every tear a guide
The past is behind me, I'll no longer hide
The strength I needed was hidden deep inside
Now it's bursting forth, with nothing left to hide

But the storm is passing, a flicker in the light
Hope is dawning, breaking through the night
Wings are stirring, shaking off the rust
Time to rise again, on courage and on trust
Gonna fly again, gonna soar so high
Leave the shadows behind, and touch the open sky
Wings to fly again, that's all I need
To break these chains and plant a freedom seed

Wings to fly again, yeah, that's all I need
To plant a freedom seed, and watch it bleed
Into the earth, a promise I can keep
Wings to fly again, while I am fast asleep
Or wide awake, soaring free.
Wings to fly, for all to see.
