First Tear

A cycle of poems «When Your Love Turns to Ashes»

Headlights blurred, a rainy scene
Streetlights painting everything in green
Radio hummed a familiar tune
Just another night, beneath the moon

We were laughing, just a moment before
Sharing secrets, locking love at the door
Said goodnight, a casual goodbye
Didn't know, a storm was brewing in my eye

Then it fell, a single drop of rain
But it wasn't rain, it was burning pain
First tear falling, a silent plea
For a reason why, you're leaving me

Taste of salt, a bitter sting
Memories echoing, like a broken swing
Every touch, every whispered word
Now a hollow song, that can't be heard

We were laughing, just a moment before
Sharing secrets, locking love at the door
Said goodnight, a casual goodbye
Didn't know, a storm was brewing in my eye

Then it fell, a single drop of rain
But it wasn't rain, it was burning pain
First tear falling, a silent plea
For a reason why, you're leaving me

The dam is breaking, the flood is near
Years of holding it back, are starting to appear
Will I ever be the same again?
Lost in the aftermath, wondering when

Then it fell, a single drop of rain
But it wasn't rain, it was burning pain
First tear falling, a silent plea
For a reason why, you're leaving me

First tear falling, in the lonely night
A silent promise, to find my own light
First tear falling, washing clean the slate
Hoping someday, I can seal my fate.
