Memories Fade

A cycle of poems «Your Fragments of a Broken Heart»

Sunrise used to paint the kitchen gold
Remember laughing 'bout a story told?
We drank our coffee, steam upon the glass
Now the silence screams, the memories pass,
Like ghosts that whisper, fading in the light
Another sunrise, feels so cold and white.

Memories fade, like photographs turned pale
The edges blurring, telling a lost tale
Of summer days and promises we made
Now just an echo, a bittersweet cascade.
Memories fade, I try to hold them near
But time keeps stealing, what I hold so dear.

I see your jacket hanging in the hall
The scent is almost gone, I can't recall
The way you smelled, the way you used to smile
Distance widens with each passing mile
And every object, once a treasured sign
Now just a reminder, of what isn't mine.

Memories fade, like photographs turned pale
The edges blurring, telling a lost tale
Of summer days and promises we made
Now just an echo, a bittersweet cascade.
Memories fade, I try to hold them near
But time keeps stealing, what I hold so dear.

I fight against it, dig my heels in deep
Trying to keep the secrets that you keep
Locked in my heart, the chambers start to rust
Afraid one day, I'll turn to only dust.

Memories fade, like photographs turned pale
The edges blurring, telling a lost tale
Of summer days and promises we made
Now just an echo, a bittersweet cascade.
Memories fade, I try to hold them near
But time keeps stealing, what I hold so dear.

Fading, fading, into the gray
Wishing I could stop them slipping away
Memories fade... but pieces still remain
A flicker of the love, a whisper in the rain.
