When Steel Meets Bone

A cycle of poems «Your Wounds Are Deep»

Sunrise over a battlefield, a mist hangs in the air
Smell of smoke and old regret, a silent, hollow prayer
He grips his sword, the steel so cold, a promise in his hand
To stand against the coming storm, and make a final stand

When steel meets bone, the story's told
Of courage lost and futures sold
A clash of wills, a desperate fight
For honor, glory, and the fading light

She stands defiant, armor gleaming, a shield against despair
Whispers of her fallen comrades, lingering in the air
Her hammer waits, a heavy weight, a force unleashed and true
To break the ranks of the invaders, and see the battle through

When steel meets bone, the story's told
Of courage lost and futures sold
A clash of wills, a desperate fight
For honor, glory, and the fading light

The thunder rolls, the ground it shakes, a symphony of pain
Metal screams and bodies fall, beneath the pouring rain
Will determination break the will, or will the spirit bend?
Only the gods of war will know, how this chapter ends

He parries blows, a desperate dance, with death so close at hand
Sees her eyes, a burning fire, a spirit he understands
For in that clash, a bond is forged, of shared and brutal fate
A moment etched in memory, before it is too late

When steel meets bone, the story's told
Of courage lost and futures sold
A clash of wills, a desperate fight
For honor, glory, and the fading light

The light it fades, the battle ends, the victors and the slain
But echoes linger in the air, a haunting, mournful strain
When steel met bone, a price was paid, a lesson hard and deep
That even in oblivion, the fallen softly sleep.
