Just He and She

Beneath the stars that softly rise,
They stood — just He and She.
Hand in hand,
And eye to eye,
Forever they will be!

They stood embraced by quiet’s spell,
Unmoved by distant sound,
Unseeing faces passing by,
As thunder rolled around.

The winds may howl, the frost may bite,
The rain may start to fall,
Yet none of this could reach their hearts —
It mattered not at all.

For all that counts is here and now,
Together, side by side.
Hand in hand,
And eye to eye,
The street feels warm and wide.

No winds are blowing,
From the skies
No raindrops find their way.
Their hearts hold summer,
And their souls
Are blooming every day.
